ABOUT
Ice Sculpting has become a growing business, but a dying ART. In 1999, the first Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to fabricate ice carvings were developed. Over the last 20 years, the majority of ice carvers have turned to CNC machines to fabricate their ice carvings.
It is estimated that only 8% of Ice Carvers throughout the world still sculpt ice by hand, using chainsaws, chisels, knives and custom made tools. No Computers or CNC machines. The art of hand ice sculpting is an artisan method, taught from Master Ice Sculptor to apprentice over the course of years.
In 2015, I established E8GHT Percent Ice Sculpting to preserve and promote the art of HAND ICE SCULPTING through educating the public and increasing community awareness through community programming and providing training opportunities for the next generation of ice sculptors.
Although Ice is our focus, we embrace all art mediums that are hand crafted.
